Tirza |
Tirza: Incorporated in 1888. Just a store, one house and the Three Cs' RR (Charleston Cincinnati, & Chicago RR) were on this site at the time. Tirza became the stump for politicians throughout the upstate. This activity earned Tirza a notorious reputation for drunken brawls. In one such altercation, two men were shot, as well as a mule. One man and the mule died. This was in a 1908 newspaper report. Diary located on your left - continue straight on Hwy 161. |
