Short Bio

Jennifer  enjoys using acrylics, gouache, drawing materials such as pen and inks, caren dache, conte crayons and exploring different surfaces. Jennifer Hamilton’s work is representational and expressionistic. She works from a variety of subject matter, including local landscapes, figures, and her pets. She uses clean and vibrant colors and brush work to express a frame of mind rather than illustrate her subjects.

Jennifer Hamilton a California native moved to South Carolina in 1972 and raised her family in the town of Rock Hill. Art has been a life long passion for Jennifer. Her formal training in art started at Winthrop College in the late 70’s. She has continued her studies by attending and working as a monitor at the Springmaid Watermedia workshops in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on average, two to six weeks a year. This pursuit has been ongoing since 1982. She has had the privilege of studying with many nationally know artists.
She worked for five years with the “Springs” show in Lancaster, SC. Unpacking, and hanging art work for the yearly exhibition, and helping in the office. She worked for the South Carolina Watercolor Society as their “Art Transport Driver” coordinating and physically picking up art show submissions for the yearly show, from 1991 until 2005. She is webmaster for Fine Arts Emporium a virtual gallery and artist web site she operated online since 1997. Fine Arts Emporium hosts the SCWS web site and provides online exhibit space for artists, an artist book store, and artist information pages. She maintains an art Studio on Main Street in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
